Когда уже на первый разворот
Заходит лайнер, медленно
снижаясь,
К стеклу прижавшись, смотришь,
поражаясь,
По-детски приоткрыв наивно рот.
Внизу, как лотос сказочный, чиста,
Не из земли -из чаши изумруда,
Возник цветок – невиданное чудо-
Моя, родная сердцу, Элиста.

It is the main Buddhist Temple in Elista. It is the biggest Buddhist Temple in Europeand Russia. It was opened in December in 2005 on the national holiday Zul
It was built specially for the 33 d Chess Olympiad
Kalmyk people come here to pray here . It is the main sacred religious place for Buddhists . It was built in 1996.
This 11- m . high symbol of the enlightened of Buddha was set up by the Buddhists of Russia .
Was opened and sanctified ( освещён ) by Alexei II in 1977
O.I.Gorodovikov monument
One of the most beautiful monuments in Elista is a statue to O.I.Gorodovikov,the legendary hero of kalmyk people.It was built in 1976 by N.Sandzhiev

The Sculpture symbolizes the link ( связь ) between the past , present and future generations
This place is the most exotic gates in Elista . Whenever people go through them they clean themselves of sins ( грехи ).
On December 28, 1943 the Kalmyks were exiled to far and cold Siberia for long 13 years. About 120 thousand people were deported. But Kalmyks managed to survive in Siberia and returned to their motherland. This monument devoted to the deportation victims was presented to the Kalmyks on December 29,1996 . It is the most magnificent monument in Elista. It was created by the world famous sculptor Ernst Neizvestny.
